Hailing from Rome, Georgia, he bought his first guitar at age 14 and was soon playing at local restaurants and bars. After high school, he built counter tops for a year until he could save enough money to move to Nashville. Once he got to town, he worked the graveyard shift loading trucks for UPS so he could pay his bills while still writing songs during the day. In 2016, he was selected to be apart of ASCAP's GPS program, which connected him directly with prominent Nashville publishers, and in 2017 he signed his first publishing deal with BMG & in 2024 signed a publishing deal with Dream 3 & Kobalt Publishing. Dawson's blue collar, working-man's point of view shines through in everything he does, a reflection of his love of God, his Family, NASCAR, and The Red, White, and Blue. Dawson also has cuts with artists such as Justin Moore, Heath Sanders, Kameron Marlowe, Colin Stough & Trey Lewis.
